Isla Mujeres

Just North-East of Cancun, 25 minutes of shore, the picturesque "Island of Woman" (Isla Mujeres), resides in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

 Named by the Spaniards after Mayan female figurines displayed on a temple at the Southern part of the Island, and who ransacked the Island, turbulent times remained during the slave trade and the Island became the hideout for the pirate Germin Mundaca de Marechaja.

Today, Isla Mujeres is a sleepy sub-tropical destination with a sheltered harbor, launching path for deep sea fishing, powdery white beaches and quaint hotels and only a few resorts. 

The North and West side offer calm waters and powdery beaches, while the East Coast offers a rocky coastline, dotted with cliffs and beautiful vistas.
Most hotels are located on the North and West side of the island.
Access to the Island is easy by Ferries from Puerto Juarez (North of Cancun) and even  by a small car-Ferry launched from Punta Sam (short distance from Puerto Juarez).
