New Zealand   

Situated in the SW Pacific Ocean consisting of two large islands (the North Island and South Island) and many much smaller islands. It is called Aotearoa in Maori, which translates as the Land of the Long White Cloud, but this name, while in common usage, has no legal recognition.

Geographically isolated, some 1,250 miles across from Australia, its closest neighbors to the north are New Caledonia, Fiji and Tonga. It stretches from North to South about 1,000 miles and offers unique diversity in micro climates. While the North Island is more subtropical, the South Island presents glaciers, mountains and plains.  

The population is mostly of European descent, with Maori (the original population) being the largest minority.  Elizabeth II is the Queen of New Zealand and is represented by a non-political Governor-General.  Political power is held by the Prime Minister, who is leader of the Government in the democratically-elected  Parliament.

The small size of New Zealand caters to the vacationer who wants to explore at his own pace. It is a country easy to navigate with well designed logistics. The North island offers Wellington (the Capital) in the South and Auckland in the North, both waterfront cosmopolitan cities, with a wealth of history, culture and entertainment. Towards the center of the N-Island you'll find the thermal wonderland of Rotorua, well worth a visit.

The South Island is a playground for the adventurer, birthplace of bungee jumping and jet boating and offers mountains, glaciers and Fiordland National Park to discover, before ending in Christchurch, the largest city in the South.
