Novelist James Michener wrote that Bora Bora is "the most beautiful island in the world". When you arrive by air, the dramatic appearance of the stunning lagoon surrounding the island, in all shades of blue, reaffirms that statement. Covered in a rich green coat, the central Mount Otemanu overlooks the lagoon, filled with brilliant coral gardens and tropical fish. Add modern accommodations " Tahitien style " and a sandy beach and you'll be in paradise. |

The resort opened in 1961 with 18 thatched-roof huts on a peninsula. In the beginning, you floated in by seaplane. And when you splashed down
and a canoe was there to ferry you to the newly opened hotel. A few things have changed since then, including a recent refurbishment to the resort’s classic
over water accommodations. The quintessential symbol of French Polynesia. |
